Sullivan Becomes Youngest Player in MLS History

On July 18th, American football witnessed a historic moment as 14-year-old prodigy Cavan Sullivan made his debut in the Major League Soccer (MLS), marking him as the youngest player ever to step onto the pitch in the league’s history.

During a crucial match between Philadelphia Union and New England Revolution, Sullivan entered the game in the 85th minute, when the home team was already leading 5-1. This breakthrough by the youngster, aged just 14 years and 293 days, surpassed the previous record held by Freddy Adu, who set the mark at 14 years and 306 days in 2004.

Sullivan, who plays as an attacking midfielder for Philadelphia Union, not only secured his place in MLS annals but also became the youngest professional athlete across all major North American sports leagues (MLB, MLS, NBA, NFL, NHL, NWSL). Standing at 1.7 meters tall and favoring his left foot, Sullivan has already been selected for the US U15 and U16 national teams, showcasing his immense potential.

With a promising future ahead, Sullivan has signed a contract with Philadelphia Union until 2028 and is set to join Premier League giants Manchester City upon turning 18. His debut underscores the remarkable talent pool in American football and promises exciting times for the sport.
